Rape Trauma Services of San Mateo County strives to eliminate all forms of violence, with a special focus on sexual assault and abuse. Informed by the understanding of traumatic experiences and cycles of violence, Rape Trauma Services facilitate healing and the prevention of violence through the provision of counseling, advocacy, and education. We promote and adopt policies, practices, and the social values rooted in fairness, equity and inclusiveness.
Services include a 24-Hour Confidential Crisis Line (650-692-7273) for anyone who has been hurt by sexual violence. Counselors are available to support and accompany survivors through dealing with hospital medical legal exams, law enforcement, and the judicial system. Counseling Services are available to help survivors through the healing process (individual counseling and support groups for survivors and loved ones are available). Children’s Services provide direct services to address the multiple healing needs of child survivors of sexual trauma. Veteran Services provides trauma-informed sexual assault services to women veterans living in San Mateo County. The Programa Para Latinos provides all services in Spanish with linguistic and cultural competence. Bilingual multicultural staff and volunteers provide services with sensitivity of the unique experiences of Latina and Latino survivors and their loved ones, as well as the Latino/Latina immigrant community.
